With 17.6 acres of vines, most of them near the medieval town of San Roman de Hornija, she made this Red from 20 year old vines. ‘This wine’s red fruity clarity and soft notes of tea leaves make it a sophisticated Toro. The structure is vertical, supported by firm, razor sharp tannins, all surrounded by delicious flavors of ripe raspberries and scents of flowers”. 93 points Wine & Spirits Magazine Spectator. Issue June 2016. ” Dark ruby. Fresh, assertively perfumed aromas of cherry, red berry liqueur, peppery spices and minerals, with smoke and vanilla nuances adding complexity. The spicy quality comes back strong on the finish, which clings with strong tenacity and slow-buildings tannins.” 91 points International Wine Cellar “ Focus on Spain” Issue 176, Sep/ Oct 2014. ” Earthy and tarry notes lend a sanguine character to this powerful red, with a core of plum, curant and bitter chocolate imparting balance. Cava Coupage de Alicia Permont Brut Nature Great Reserva
Montserrat family began to produce cava in 1940. It all started with Mr Pere Montserrat I Font; His son Pere Montserrat I Sardá followed his steps and revolutionized the cellar, already under the name of Conde de Valicourt. A few years later, Martí Pere Montserrat, the grandson, and his wife Alicia Segura, took over until the present day. Today they devote themselves to the Nobel art of producing a great cava, strictly following the traditional method. They defend an independent concept, separate from wide distribution, always thinking about what they are going to do, but never forgetting their roots and being extremely respectful to their occupation as deserved. I can personally testify to this, cause I had the pleasure to talk to Alicia in a few occasions about this particular cava. She is as enthusiastic with her cavas as I am regarding our own wine. We do share a very similar philosophy. Great quality and an extreme respect to our products. This cava is made with these varieties: Xarel~lo, Macabeu and Parellada. “After 30 months of maturing process within bottle, we obtain a cava with a singular personality in which the balance between the joy of its relative youth and the echoes of ages stand out. One can perceive flavors of fennel, rose, citrus fruits and apple. A perfect balanced cava, powerful, original and tasty, with a bouquet of great intensity, dry and fine in the mouth. With no traces of additives or chemicals and being sugar free its moderate consumption is suitable for diabetics” ( must consult with a physician first) *Cava is the Spanish equivalent to the French champagne.
Verdejo Fresco White wine 2017
Verdejo is a variety grape that has long been grown in The Rueda region of Spain. The grape originated in North Africa, and was brought to Spain around the 11th Century by Mozarabs. Verdejo was usually used to make a strongly oxidized Sherry-like wine. In the 70s Marques de Riscal, the famous Spanish winemaking company, began to develop a fresher style of white wine based on Verdejo with the help of French oenologist Emile Peynaud. In 1980 white wines from the Rueda Region were recognized by a DO (geographic origin denomination). Wines labeled Rueda must contain 50% Verdejo; The remaining is usually Sauvignon Blanc or Macabeo grapes. Wines designated “Rueda Verdejo” must contain 85% Verdejo. CURIOUS FACT: The Verdejo grapes are generally harvested at night. This means the grapes enter the cellar at the lower night time temperature 50-59 F, instead of the daytime temperature, which can be as high as 82-86 F in September. Lower temperatures means less oxidation ( browning the juice).
This Verdejo wine is aromatic, soft and full bodied. It has a small amount of “bubbles”, so we promise it won’t leave you indifferent!.
Pazo Pegullal Albariño White Wine 2017
Well…… Pazo Pegullal is our family wine. The grape variety is Albariño. Its DO ( geographic origin denomination) is the South of the Galicia Region, located at the Northwest of Spain. “ Our wine is smart and floral with dried fruity tones. Crispy and refreshing aftertaste with a small hint of acidity. It won’t leave you indifferent”. ‘Our wine needs to be chilled in order to be able to enjoy its full combination of flavors. The main difference between our wine and other Albariños is our production process. Everything is manually done and handled with the uttermost care. We do not harvest our grapes until we check they reached the adequate sugar bricks. That way our wine does not need to be processed with chemicals at the winery since it uses its own yeasts and sugar to ferment by itself naturally. ENJOY IT 🥂
